Container Loading Calculator

Estimate how much container space your cargo will use and how much space may remain in 20FT, 40FT, and 40HQ containers.

Container Size Guide
Container Type Internal Length Internal Width Internal Height Internal CBM Practical Loading CBM
20GP 5.90 m 2.35 m 2.39 m 33 CBM 28 CBM
40GP 12.03 m 2.35 m 2.39 m 67 CBM 58 CBM
40HQ 12.03 m 2.35 m 2.69 m 76 CBM 68 CBM

Which Container Size Should You Choose?

20GP Container

A 20GP container is commonly used for smaller or heavier shipments. It has less volume than a 40GP or 40HQ container but can be suitable when cargo weight is high.

40GP Container

A 40GP container is useful when cargo volume is higher than a 20GP container but does not require extra height.

40HQ Container

A 40HQ container provides more internal height and is often preferred for lightweight, high-volume cargo such as cartons, furniture, display items, and general merchandise.

Container loading results should always be treated as an estimate. Final container selection depends on cargo dimensions, weight, packing style, palletization, and carrier acceptance.

Practical loading CBM is lower than internal CBM because real cargo loading depends on carton shape, pallets, gaps, cargo weight, and loading method.

About This Container Loading Calculator

This container loading calculator estimates how much space cargo may use in 20GP, 40GP, and 40HQ containers. You can enter total CBM directly or calculate CBM from carton dimensions.

Actual loading can vary depending on cargo shape, packaging, pallets, weight distribution, and loading method.
